The Senior Analyst or Consultant should be able to conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative research in rural economics/agriculture markets. The role requires a good knowledge of the rural and agrarian markets. The incumbent should be willing to work under guidance and deliver within a reasonable time.

 

Responsibilities

  • Carry out in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on the rural economy.
  • Undertake in-depth data collection, structuring, and analyses.
  • Source and analyse relevant information and data via research and networking.
  • Conduct literature reviews and be able to compile relevant information into actionable items.
  • Identify micro- and macro-economic indicators, and measure parameters, economic models, etc., as needed for the project.
  • Assist with efforts around engagement with external organisations and partners.
  • Make field visits/trips for gathering information, data, and analyses, as and when needed.
  • Assist in preparing project reports, articles, and powerpoint presentations, as and when needed.
  • Diligently execute activities as deemed necessary, e.g.,  organising meetings, preparing minutes, liaisoning, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-graduation in economics/agricultural or rural economics/sustainability from an IIM/IIT(B-schools), other Tier-1 B-schools, or other prominent academic institutions like D-School or JNU, etc.
  • Candidates with interdisciplinary qualifications or specialised certifications on the subject (such as on rural economy and sustainable development, rural development and technology, or sciences and environmental economics) are also encouraged to apply.

 

Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of research experience in think tanks, government or academic institutions on agricultural transformation, rural development, rural-urban linkages.
  • Relevant working knowledge on rural economy or rural economic transformation will be an add-on.

 

Skill Set

  • Proficiency in at least two or more empirical tools like STATA, SPSS, R, linear interpolation, exterpolation, etc. 
  • Analytical skills (ability to analyse data, draw conclusions, and provide practical recommendations based on them).
  • Strong passion and acumen towards research and policy enrichment in the field.
  • Ability to work in a team and deliver quality output with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, narration, and writing skills.
  • Willingness to work in cross-sectoral and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to produce deliverables as required, quickly/within a short turnaround time.
  • Well-versed with MS-Office tools, with good presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethics and a sense of responsibility towards the work assigned.
  • Must be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and contribute towards the growth of CSTEP.
