The Strategic Initiatives group at CSTEP is looking for a consultant for the project “Promoting Resilient Odisha through Climate Smart Agriculture”, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The consultant will join our team as a life cycle assessment (LCA) expert and will play a key role in analysing and assessing the environmental sustainability of current and emerging agricultural practices through comprehensive life cycle analyses. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in LCA methodologies related to various agricultural practices and environmental science.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on various practices of climate-smart agriculture (CSA).
- Analyse CSA practices with the aim of enhancing water-use efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing yield.
- Perform life cycle assessment of CSA practices.
- Engage with stakeholders for communication and policy discussions.
- Contribute to producing technical written outputs.
Qualifications
- A Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–4 years of work experience in the relevant field.
- Proven experience in conducting LCAs for agricultural systems.
Skill Set
- Proficiency in LCA software and methodologies.
- Sound understanding of sustainable agriculture practices and environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to work in other areas of agriculture.
Duration
1 year (extension/full-time recruitment would depend on future project requirements).
