As a senior analyst, you will be involved in conducting the transmission planning studies being undertaken at CSTEP for various Indian states. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the integration of renewable energy sources into transmission networks, while also spearheading initiatives for the seamless integration of electric vehicles and solar rooftop technologies into distribution networks.

 

eARTh: Poetry Studio

The eARTh Climate Fellows explored the world of words and visual poetry with eARTh Climate Fellowship mentor and renowned poet Mamta Sagar. The Fellows came up with their own climate stories, poetry, and art, reflecting on the impact of climate change on the ecology. These included rhymes for children, art installations, and sketches.

In recent years, there has been a lot of buzz around buying an EV. The major reasons cited for an EV transition include savings on fuel expense and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Although these are notable reasons, the question persists — can EVs offer something substantial to the nation as a whole in the coming decades?

A state of migration

Karnataka—the seventh most urbanised state in India—has witnessed significant urbanisation in recent decades. From 2001 to 2011, the proportion of the rural population shifted from 66% to 61%, and that of the urban population shifted from 34% to 39%. 

India’s need to curb black carbon emissions

At the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow in November 2021, India pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070, positioning itself as a frontrunner in the race to carbon neutrality. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India had installed a renewable energy capacity of over 180 GW by 2023 and is expected to meet its target of 500 GW by 2030.
