The workshop brought in various key stakeholders—including the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Environment—to discuss and deliberate the urgent actions required to enable time-bound implementation of the new emission norms for thermal power plants. CSTEP presented key findings from its report on the benefits and costs of implementing the norms, to steer the multi-stakeholder discussion. The event covered discussions on the need for regulatory certainty, institutional arrangements, technical feasibility/applicability of control systems, and financing mechanisms to enable industry compliance.
The Madhya Pradesh State Action Plan for Climate Change (SAPCC) Inception workshop, that took place on 5th and 6th Feb 2018, was hosted by The Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO) of MP in Bhopal. The workshop emphasized mitigation as one of the key components in the SAPCC and consultations were held with various departments to gather information and data on various schemes and policies of MP. CSTEP as part of GHG Platform India (An Indian civil society initiative to understand India's GHG emission estimates) is anchoring the effort in energy sector.
