Abstract:
The annotation of a document involves the embedding of data such as a textual note, a symbol or structured data in an original document at a specific location (Ovsinnikov et al. 1999). For countries, people have used annotations in paper documents and drawings in the course for their work- for example, an author of a document may use annotation to assist in the development and refinement of the text of the document; other readers may use annotation to assist in recall, to indicate corrections or for that purposes of comment, assessment and review.
Annotation have been applied to a wide variety of document types including books, reports, papers and transcripts, engineering drawings and diagrams, photographs and other images, and in this way have been widely used in product development
The scope of annotations has been considerably enlarged by the latest developments in digital technologies allowing the manipulation of 3D geometry through a simple web browser and the combination of geometrical information with more complex semantic structures. Annotations may be applied to a wide variety of media types, and digital representation offers the capability for annotations to be widely communicated and shared.
