Energy Efficiency Research at CSTEP

Energy Efficiency is a broad effort by CSTEP to provide the intelligence needed for lowering energy intensity of industrial processes, making them more efficient and productive. There are currently three related initiatives underway:

  1. We are analyzing energy efficiency, consumption, and scenarios in these energy intensive industrial sectors in India: Cement, Iron & Steel, Aluminium, Chlor–Alkali, Paper & Pulp, Textiles, Fertilizers.
  2. Creating a detailed study of how processes in the cement sector can be made less energy intensive. This
involves data collection, analysis and modelling.
  3. A self-initiated study of energy consumption in discrete manufacturing processes. This involves regular visits to
small scale manufacturing industry where we measure the energy consumed in various manufacturing processes.
