An Indo-US Workshop on Designing Sustainable Products, Services and Manufacturing Systems was organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, USA, and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and supported by the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum. CSTEP researchers contributed a paper on 'Sustainability Analysis and Energy Footprint based Design in the Product Lifecycle' which was presented by Dr.S.S. Krishnan.
CSTEP Chairman Professor Arunachalam delivered a keynote address on 'Design and Bounded Rationality in Changing Times' and CSTEP Distinguished Research Fellow Dr.Eswaran Subrahmanian chaired a breakout session which deliberated on the future roadmap for sustainability as an important component of engineering education. Finally, Dr.S.S. Krishnan chaired a session which generated summarizing observations by Dr. Sudarsan Rachuri and Dr. Steve Ray of NIST and Dr.Eswaran Subrahmanian.
