Abstract:

With increasing population and expanding demand for urban infrastructure services, the capacities of local governments in many developing and newly industrialized countries are overburdened. Adequate infrastructure is not only necessary for increasing productivity but also raising the general quality of living.

CSTEP was a Knowledge Partner at BESCOM's Workshop on Smart Grids, a widely attended event towards a pilot Smart Grid deployment at BESCOM (the Bangalore electricity distribution utility).

Focus on case studies of Chennai, Bangalore, and possibly Mumbai (and/or Delhi) – Before we incorporate the transportation sector into models, we need to develop further expertise in the institutional side -- how these systems are designed, financed, built, implemented, maintained, and regulated.
