Harnessing Solar Energy: Options for India

The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) launched in 2009 has ambitious targets for solar energy for large-scale power generation and to a smaller extent decentralized small-scale applications. Large public outlays are expected towards solar technologies. In this report we analyse the techno-economics of several decentralized solar applications and discuss policy implications. Our study makes a case for decentralized options getting more impetus to help meet the urgent needs for clean energy options of millions.
