Biography: Dr. Balasubramanian was founder-director of Everest R & D Center, which
ushered in asbestos-free building products in India. This work was
recognised by the Nigel- Cutler International Award. He has worked in
the aerospace industry and research laboratories in the areas of
composite materials, and high temperature materials. For his work on
fibers and composites, he received an Innovation award from the National
Research and Development Council and a medal from Materials Research
Society of India. His current research interests are in Materials "
Genomics" and discovery of new materials, especially for energy storage
systems, materials ecology and energy efficiency in manufacturing.
