Biography

Prof. Ranganathan has over four decades of research and teaching experience in and outside India and is an authority in field-ion and electron microscopy, structure of interfaces and quasi crystals. He has worked on strategic sector programs on materials pursued by the Departments of Atomic Energy, Space and Defense Research and Development. He has won numerous awards and honors such as Kamani and Birla Gold Medals and Platinum Medal of Indian Institute of Metals, Materials Research Society of India Medal and Homi Bhabha Award of University Grants Commission. He is a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy, Past President and a Fellow of Indian Institute of Metals and other National Academies.
